Building on the "Poor Man's Drum Riser" thread from last summer...

I'm about to build a 6'x8' drum riser made up 4" of 703 rigid fiber board supporting 2 layers of 3/4" MDF.
Here's the sandwich plan:
TOP
---3/4" MDF Sheet----
---1/8" Thick Mass Loaded Vinyl Barrier (Sheetblock)---
---3/4" MDF Sheet----
---Liquid Nails----
---2" thick 703 Rigid Fiber Board----
---Liquid Nails---
---2_ Thick 703 Rigid Fiber Board----
Bottom (Floor)
I have some extra Vinyl Barrier from a studio build out we did a few years ago. I have enough to cover a 6'x8' area and was just hoping to put it to good use. Would sandwiching a layer of the vinyl barrier between the two layers of MDF serve and purpose or just add unnecessary weight?
John mentioned that the two layers of MDF might result in a resonant frequency that could potentially fight with some of the Tom frequencies. Could this vinyl barrier help to decouple the two sheets of MDF as well as dampen any vibrations between them that result in the resonant frequencies he was suggesting? OR would the mere act of screwing the two sheets of MDF together serve as a coupling channel that would transmit those same vibrations, thus rendering the vinyl mass useless?
Going to pick up the mdf sheets tomorrow and thought I'd make another attempt to get a response on this topic...my apologies for starting a new thread. But it seemed the original thread was somewhat completed and not getting any views.
Many thanks for the contributions to this forum...it is an extremely useful resource.

Vinyl Barrier in a drum riser????

Steve,
MLV's value is when used as a limp mass - and even then it isn't all that great when you do a cost comparison to other products.
Once restrained it has little value at all.
So I wouldn't bother placing it there.
