RC on existing drywall?

I have one layer of drywall up, and I was wondering if it's worthwhile to put up resilient channel to this existing layer and adding another layer of drywall? Is this in danger of a diminishing returns with a triple leaf effect? I know the RC should have gone up first but this is my scenario. Also, the first layer is mounted horizontally. If I add a second layer with RC in between, should I mount it horizontally and just stagger the placement? Thanks.

Yes it is.

I wouldn't add the RC on my wall if I had already installed sheetrock. And yes I would stagger the joints. HTH
Thanks. I suppose if I decide to add a second layer then Green Glue is my only option? I may put RC on the ceiling since I haven't covered that area yet.

Yes. Andre
You have the option not to use green glue as well.
I like the way you think xSpace.
