hey all, i started my journey in the studio construction forum and have successfully built a fully (for what it's worth) soundproof space where i dont wake up my quiet neighbours in the heart of toronto! 3am drunken psych jams are GO!!! now that i have built the space, i need to treat the space. the first thing i notice is that there is some serious bounce smacking around the place when you clap. there's about a 2 second release of "boingy" type reverberations. as a result, the drums are a little outrageous. i need to make them less roomy (but not losing ALL of the room) so i'm thinking of putting padding around the kit. i'm wondering if 1" dense fiberglass is the best way to go, or should i use thicker material, 2or3"? you will see the room layout below and where i plan to place the padding and cloud, let meknow what you think! thanks, jiambrone

you might consider using small (2'x2'x2") rigid insulation type absorbers and checkerboarding them on the walls and ceiling - put about 1' between the corners so there is some space. this should give you a nice diffusive environment without sounding dead. put some floor to ceiling 2' wide 4" rigid insulation across the corners to tighten the bass response.
