I am new to the forum and this is my first post. After doing many searches, I can't find a direct answer to my question. Or maybe I have just read past it.
I have a small room in my basement 6' x 10' that serves as a music room. It has a drop ceiling with the usual Homedepot ceiling tiles with about 12 inches of space between the ceiling and the floor joists above. Two of the four walls are exterior walls with drywall over cinderblock and brick. The other two walls are finished drywall. The floor is a raised hardwood floor over concrete.
My goal is to reduce the amount of sound migrating up to the main floor and other parts of the house from mainly a guitar amp, no drums.
Knowing that sound isolation is only as good as your weakest link, here is my question:
Would putting some OC 703 (or similar) in the drop ceiling space and putting some bass traps in the room along the interior walls have much of an effect of reducing sound to other parts of the house?
If this question needs more information, please let me know. If there are places on the forum that house this information please point me there. My searches have not be very fruitful.
Thanks
