My studio shall be a room within a room design and once these internal walls are built, my available floor-space is approx 3m x 6m x 2.4m high.
I intend for the studio to be for my own use only (no clients) playing country and pop music.
I originally wanted a large rehearsal space where I could play without disturbing anyone, but seeings as I am spending all this money and time building it, I would hate to not have the chance to add some kind of control room for recording. So my use for the studio will be:
60% time will be for me to practice my Keys/Bass/Drums without disturbing anyone.
20% will be used for recording music.
20% will be used for my various band rehearsals/jam sessions.
However, I'm having a hard time splitting up this long/thin space into a control room + live room. I've had a good think and I cant seem to fit in both a control room AND a live room large enough for 4-5peice bands to rehearse. Can anyone else manage this ?
So, my current design is aimed at using the control room as a rehersal room, and then building seperate iso booths for drums and vocals for when I would want to record. Would anyone care to point out mistakes in my design or suggest possible alternatives for me to play around with? Also, Im not sure if I have made my vocal and drumm booth too small but I didn't want to eat up anymore of the control room space as it also needs to be big enough to double as a practise room for a full band.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks all.
Splitting up a long space?

i think the vox booth is too small. and small drum rooms usually aren't too much fun... maybe plan on tracking live vox from the CR and overdub additional vox later using the drum room.
