hey fellas and fellaninas :D
hello im from australia. well it's come to that time and i've decided to take the step into getting this room sounding better. Now i've done a little research but have a few queries. my room is 2.25m in height, 2.7 m wide and 4.25m long. i have a window 1.5m x 0.85 m which will be at the front (if you consider facing the monitors)
due to my lack of money it'll probably be a slow process but first comes the basstraps. i was thinking something like the superchunks that are mentioned on studiotips, basically cutting triangles of rockwool and stackin them in the corner to reach the ceiling. i have sussed out prices and i can pretty much get 1500mmx900mmx100mm batts which come in 3 piece bags for around $111 AUD. They are around 60kg per m3, is this alright?.
im trying to work out how i should cut these. I was thinking cutting the 1500 side into 3 lengths of 500 and the 900 side in half so i get 450, so essentially i have 6 squares 450x500. Then i would cut these squares into triangles giving 12 triangles of 450x500 with a face around 700.
will this be sufficient measurments to absorb around 150hz if i have 4 placed in each corner?
Also thinking of sewing up a masssive bag to store the triangles in so i can make them portable. is this a good idea? any fabric suggestions? would it matter if theres a slight air gap between the wall and the bass trap? i have an annoying post in one corner which will make the front left hand trap stick out a little (around 100mm) and a wide window so the 2 front traps will over lap the window a little, creating a small space. perhaps i should fill the gaps altogether with some extra rockwool??
secondly, thinking of building some mid and high absorbers to be placed on the reflective points. perhaps 1500x900x100 in size and make a few of them. 2 on each side one at the back and 2 hanging off the ceiling for a cloud. i heard it a good idea to keep a space between the absorber and the wall approx the same thickness as the absorber (100mm) probably do this with "L" brackets and wire from the ceiling. should the cloud hang 100mm from the ceiling too?. any thoughts???
the last query is this window that will be on the monitors side of the room. it takes up around 1/2 the wall, would a heavy drape be sufficient for this?
that's all i can think of at the moment. your help would be very much appreciated
cheers.
edit: entered my location sorry
