I have started a thread in the design forum which i have had loads of help from Glen and I am now looking at more of the construction of the space I have. A link to that thread can be found here http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9627
Windows
Thanks to Lou I have come up with a way of sorting out my windows:
Paint the windows black then Plywood against the glass then layers of drywall finish of with big chunks of mdf till I hit level with the wall and then attach it to the wall so its secure, each layer with what I have yet to find in the UK that will be GREEN GLUE or the equivalent. Some help with this would be great Any One!!!
Ceiling
After scouting round, reading Rods book and hitting Johns SAE bits n Pieces I have decided to go with the following design for my ceiling. Obviously I have to rip out the old ceiling first. I will then find out which way the joists run. Celling 1
I cant imagine it doing much harm if I use 2 layers of rock wool I intend to attach the ceiling by using some kind of resilient channel as I am brand new to this types of construction I guess I will have to buy a small piece and have a practice first. I am only intending to use two layers of Drywall on the ceiling as I am attaching drywall between the joists attached to the plywood floor I going to try it with 2 layers then measure up with my meter and see what kind of isolation I am getting if I need more I will add another layer. Celling 2
Walls
3 of the walls will be done like this! Wall 1 below What is the gap between the wall and first bit of insulation (The Bit in the middle) Not sure how to attach the battens I assume the are attached to the bass plate an a plate on the ceiling and secured in place.
My main concern is that I do not want to loose too much height in the rooms if any one knows of a better way of approaching some of the jobs to be done please but in this is going to be a long build but I do want it done in less than a year. I figure get the room sound proof then worry about the internals from there. I am very flexible and I am running the two threads concurrently as I am still open to design ideas. Had some great renders from Glenn.
I am currently recording in a room the same size above the space that I will be in and I am liking all the space so I keep hankering to a one room design with a iso booth however the design of a quite big iso room is appealing as well and looks the part.

Hi Steve - Buddy, you certaianly seem to be doing your research here! Nice one fella' always goes down well with the experts!  Not that I'm in anyway an expert btw!!!!
I just want to clarify my windows for you. Glass in place - right?
1. Measure glass - left to right, top to bottom. (Sorry for the potential insult, I assure you it's not intended!)
2. Cut ply the same size.
3. Paint ply NOT GLASS - Let it dry
4. Whatever distance you need to 'make up' to 'come back' to your vertical wall aperture surroundig your window do with, plasterboard, MDF etc. You'll probably have to increase the size of your materials with each layer to match the profile of your window frame. Think of it as a kind of 'lego' roof (without lego roof tiles, just regular blocks   ) turned 90 degrees!
5. Each layer of material is fixed with gripfill and acoustic caulk, apart of course, from the ply which is only attached with acoustic caulk so that you don't see any crap around the glass from the outside! Brace/Fix each layer edge to your frame as you go and finally, cover the whole lot up with a bloody great sheet of plasterboard - Job done!
Hope all this makes sense Dude - Great luck with the build my friend!
Warm regards,

Sorry Dude - Almost forgot, give these guys a ring for your green glue! There the only distributor currently in Europe, but at least they're UK based.
There in Kent! And, with the price they want, that county really should be a massive typo!!

Excellent guys I will order a crate asap....
I figure get the room sound proof and then onwards and well onwards....
Al ot cheaper than I thought.
You can also buy GG direct from greenglue.co.uk. Email [removed] for more information. Their direct price comes out to about £9.00 a tube. I don't know how that compares to RPG.Sorry Dude - Almost forgot, give these guys a ring for your green glue! There the only distributor currently in Europe, but at least they're UK based.
