Just some general questions (for now) that I would really like some thoughts on... Basically... I will soon start putting together a studio in my garage (11 X 7). I want it only to be one room, with mixing, recording, and composing/programming capabilities...The main problem is, I have not seen many rooms like this (atleast in a similar size). For now I do not want to discuss isolation in major detail, maybe a bit of acoustic advice would help though. I guess the main thing I've been thinking is where to place the mixer/control surface, midi keyboard, and qwerty keyboard. This is a problem as these 3 things need to placed directly infront of the screens and be accessible from the sweet spot (am i right?) I am not sure if i need a seperate table in the middle of the room where the keyboards are...like they have in some studios. Some places have the keyboards to the left or right perpendicularly, but that would mean pressing record, then turning to play etc... I'm thinking of getting this argosy desk and putting the keyboard infront of the screens, the other keyboard infront of it , and the control surface on the right or left sides. Thanks for any advice... S
is that in meters or feet? that desk looks too big if the measurements are in feet
Thanks for the reply The measurements are in feet.. I am mainly worried about where I would place the gear etc... Thanks
That's a small space, shocker. But if that's what you have, then you can make it work. Arrangement wise, a good starting point is to be facing the 7' wall, 38% of the way back from the front wall. This should give you space for a desk in front of you, as well as a table etc. behind you for keyboards and gear. Depending on how much stuff you have you will be cramped. Don't forget to think about acoustic treatment.... a room that small will need a lot (proportionately) of bass trapping, and I'd recommend a fair amount of absorption to keep things under control.
