hey guys! :) I made some layouts for my homestudio in sketchup and just wondering which one would sound best for mixing. there's no need for complex or costly acoustic treatment, as this is really just a homestudio for writing and making very small demos. here are my thoughts: (also considering that this is my bedroom :D ) ------------------------------ #1: + is near to a symmetric room design + backwall is angled (about 20°) + backwall consists of angled board paneling over airspace -> something like broadbandabsorber? (far away from a real one - but "something like" ) + I like the design/look/feel of it - relative small distance to backwall (about 4.2m) ------------------------------ #2: + by far the best design/feel + uses the available space best - relative small distance to backwall (about 4m) - far away from a symmetric room design - backwall is flat ------------------------------ #3: + is near to a symmetric room design + big distance to the rear wall + uses the available space relatively well - worst design/feel - backwall is flat ------------------------------ so I would estimate #2 is the worst in regard to acoustics. but I really like the feel. #3 seems to be the best in regard to acoustics because of the big distance to the rear wall. but maybe the angled rearwall in #1 compensates the disadvantage of the small distance to it. I would definitely not like to go with #3 because of it's design - so my question is: does it make any difference if I choose #1 over #3? .. or does it make any difference at all if I choose one of those three? (as the room is far away from acoustic treatment like you guys are used to. it's not a professional studio, it's a home studio) because if it doesn't make a noticable difference in regard to acoustics, I would choose #2. 8) any help is appreciated! sebastian

no tips? :(
Patience, grasshopper. These are busy geniuses. I don't really know squat, but I like no. 2... But wait for the big guns to have time to give you tips.
Number 1 seems to me the most symmetrical???
#1. hang heavy drapes over the alcoves for mix time. add porous absorption on first reflection points and "back wall"
