Hi friends.
:D
I have some questions about resonating absorbers.
For a new mixing room i have already done a lot of treatment, but i still have a peak at about 80hz. My plan ist to built a narrowband helmholz resonator for fixing this situation.
Now im not shure at which position a helmholz works best.
Do i put the hole from the resonator at the position where the soundlevel ist the highest, or at the position where i cant`t hear this special frequency??
And is it the same with an Pannelabsorber?
I hope to get some answers and reasons for the placement here :)
Thanks for your attention at this thread.
best regards

Which ist the best place for a helmholz?

Helmholz and panel absorbers both work best at high PRESSURE points - it takes pressure to cause flow thru the tuned slat/cloth/absorbent of a helmholz, and same to move a panel.
If you've determined that your problem frequency is axial in nature, (probably a 2nd or 3rd harmonic unless your room's really small) then peaks would be along the wall or ceiling that CONNECTS the two surfaces that are responsible for the mode - for a fundamental, the trap would need to go at either end of this side wall or ceiling. For a second harmonic, it could go at ends or middle, and for a 3rd harmonic it could go at ends, 1/3 or 2/3.
See the sticky here "are my speakers in a null" for more help on figuring this out... Steve
thanks for repy steve :P
now i can finish the room
cheers
