Hi folks, such a nice forum with loaded info here. I'm a newbie, so If I make any mistakes about posting, sorry.. I'd like to get your opinions about designing the following space to a fully loaded studio in Switzerland, Pfaffikon. It will have; a control room a drum booth a performance room a vocal booth a kitchen lounge a bathroom a machine/utility room entrence and a fire exit Dimentions are; W: 18.75 meter x L: 8.65 meter, H: 9 meter. or; W: 738.185 x L: 340.55 inch, H: 354.33 inch. or; W: 61.52 ft x L: 28.38 ft, H: 29.53 ft. The space has no walls inside and in a rectangular shape and there is no building near it, also I've no budget limitation either, so I'm free to do whatever.. I'd like to locate the control room at a position which; the performance room, drum iso and vocal iso can have eye contact with the control room. While I am working on the plans I'm going on with 2 design alternatives; First one is 3-leaf way with a control room at the corner of the structure and another alternative design, which control room fits nearly middle of the total area.. Drawings will be posted to discuss as soon as I finish.. (BTW, I am editing my post as I process, hope that's ok.) The first drawing is the rough plan of the roof, just to see the total area that we've.. The second and third drawings are very rough (well made in MS Paint !) with NO accurate measurements, just to see the 2 design alternatives that can go further in the project.. Later this week I'll post the AutoCAD drawings.. Studio2.JPG: A symmetrical option..But the Control Rooms side walls shaped asymmetrical because of my MS Paint rookieness, think as if its sidewalls are symmetrical, please. Studio.JPG: 3 leaf adaptation made with the help of a garage studio's control room design which I've found from the forum. Mechan.JPG: Rough room plan to see what we've got.

if you could post some information about how you plan to use the studio, music type, etc prefer more mix time, or more recording time, etc. it helps to understand the balance of rooms. for instance, I'd definitely shrink the non-studio space for the bathroom, kitchen, lounge as much as possible so you can get a larger control room and live room. plus you might want the layout to put the CR near the common space so access in and out of the CR doesn't have to interfere with the live room or booths. you also should consider load in/out as well as the lines of sight between rooms.
Well, the studio will be multitasking..Will be producing jingles, and recording different instruments, it's musical range will be as wide as a jingle can be.. There will be more mixing going on rather than recording, because not only jingles will be produced, but also album recordings and mixes will be done here too..Mainly, pop, funk and some electronic music.. I am going on the Studio2.JPG option I guess..More flexible, can load in/out between rooms etc. looked much better after the first time I looked.. AutoCAD drawing are on the way, will be posting later this day..
you might flip version 2 and make the top vox booth an air lock entry into the live room. this way your CR and studio have separate access into the common areas.
Thank you for your opinions Glenn, the other plan still looks much useful, while lacking of space but, we thought that working for long hours in studio, having a hot cup of tea or going to the restroom should be easy as well.. Also by this time CAD drawing's finished..And a post room also added too..And the second revision looks like this..
