Hello, my name is Kim.
My band plans to build a studio from scratch next summer. I'm quiet the noob when it comes to designing a studio. I've been working my way through this forum for the last two months and at least learned something ;) I've made a sketchup which shows roughly our idea. We would appreciate if someone with more skills than us, could take a look at it and give us some inputs. Feel free to make suggestions to other layouts. We will also use the recording room as a rehearsal room, so it cannot be too small.
Thanks.
Kim

Hi
How high are your ceilings?

Sorry about that. I think we can build up to about 2.50 meters.
it looks like a nice design. since it looks like you're designing it with angled walls and losing space anyways, why not build the isolation walls as rectangles and then add treatment walls within each room with angles, absorption, slats, polys, etc. to treat the space. also, make the entry into the space in the live room rather than the control room. makes load in/out easier and avoid people dragging stuff through the CR. its not ideal since its often handy to have a separate CR entry but if it what you have...
Thank you so much for the layout Gullfo. Looks like a good idea. I've sketched it up using your layout. Since I'm such a noob at this, where should I put slots, polys ect?
most of the angled treatment walls can the slat resonators - except in the back of the CR, i'd make those mostly absorptive with some slats to keep the life in the space. for polys - i'd put one on the back wall of the CR and one on each of the top and bottom walls (in the diagram) in the middle where the 2 angles join. maybe make the short treatments in the live room porous absorption. remember clouds in the CR and live room to control first and floor-ceiling reflections.
Thank you so much for the fast reply Gullfo.
