Hello My name is Gary,
I am in the process of building a single family home in Jamaica.
The layout is a typical 3Br/2br set up.
my plan is to build it so that i could use the 2 car garage and the room behind it as my control room and live room. The garage area will be about 22 feet by about 19 feet while the room behind it is about 11 by 22 feet.
So i am planing on using a space of 22 by 30 feet below is a fough sketch of my plan.
any help will be greatly apreciated
Thanks

Aloha and welcome to the forum Gary,
How tall are your ceilings?
Aloha 8)
Hello Kendale
the cieling is 12 feet high
could you explain a bit about how the studio would be used, isolation requirements, budget? the 12' ceilings sound nice and you'll be able to use them for open space and trapping which should preserve a lot of the floor space. what you have in your drawing is a pretty good start.
Hello Glen,
Thanks for replying to my post.
The studio will bell used for my music production, sound for video etc.
I was thinking of also making some soffits in the rear walls so that in the future i could do some 5.1 but i will hold that thought.
i dont have a specific buget i just want it to be done properly.
Me and my partners built a studio in new york which i loved, the only problem is i did not have the Tannoy DMT215 in the design.I dont exactly know how to get the angles. I know it has to be 60 degrees, but how far farword should the tilt be? 15 degree? 19 degree?
Its easy to draw on paper but its hell for even good builders to do,its tricky and also the window between the control and the studio room.
I just dont know how to go about incorparating these tannoys into my new design.
As you can see from my drawing, the 22 by 30 area is going to be concrete block pretty much and the top will be cast ceiling aprox 12 feet.
I would like it to be so that when the studio is blasting away i could be fast asleep on the other side  .
May the living room area could act as asound lock?
After the concrete blocks are layed,i was thinking of using 2 by 4 and ply wood to construct the studio.
I will email the drawing of the new york room if you like Glen
thanks
thanks! yea send me a link or image via email. my pm seems to be broken here but you can send it [removed].
can you post detailed measurements of the planned space rather than just general dimensions? if you have an architect plan, maybe include a snippet of that since it will have the details.
