Does anyone have an illustration or explanation of how to raise a floor up to run cables under the floor? I can't quite figure out the right way to do this. The floor now is just concrete. Good modern design. I want to put in a wood floor over this in the control room. I have a lot of gear and cables though. There is basically no other option than to run the cables underneath. I don't want to do a typical floating floor for obvious reasons. How the heck do I raise the damn floor? Thanks in advance
it seems this is what I should do: Concrete Floor->2x6 joists on uboats->4" insulation->3/4" plwood->wood floor Note: I am not doing this for isolation purposes. My walls and soffits will be on the concrete. This way seems pretty simple and not too expensive
Hi there, You could do what you have suggested, however, you could just put down 2" battens, run cables in between, fill with insulation, lay your flooring on top. ie 5/8 or 3/4 plywood, then underlay and finally your favourite flooring material on top. The whole thickness would probably be only about 4" in total. Hope this helps Mike
sounds like a plan... I am though worried about continuity between the control room and live room. I'd sure hate for there to be a 4" gap between the floors in the rooms. I guess that is the trade-off though
