New Studio in Large Basement - First Design

Greetings All:
Having lurked about for the last several months, I felt it was time to ask some advice. I'll be installing a basement facility which will see use mostly by me in the control room, but some outside people as well. Occasionally, a full band will be recorded at once.
My space currently has no walls. The ceiling is 9 feet 6 inches, unfinished. In the drawing, the little red dots are posts, which cannot be moved. I wanted to enclose the posts in two walls of the control room, but then I'm unable to get a good acoustic ratio, so I moved one wall in from the post.
I'll have no soffits, so I'm not sure about the appropriateness of the angles I've used in the control room. Is the shape I've chosen inherently inferior to the ovoid I see so much on this forum, even without the soffits?
I'm aware of the parallel issue in the large room, and I'm open to suggestions. Any opinions regarding the current drawing are certainly appreciated. The original SmartDraw file is located here:
