Thanks in advance Barefoot,

I am looking to build soffits as per

http://www.homer.com.au/jls/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=55

For my events I admit I am a rookie at recording but love the path to knowledge.

Are there any watch outs I should keep in mind or settings I should make before I push them in. I am working with a pretty small space but am trying to make the best use possible.

Thanks again
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I answered the same basic question in the Genelec 1032A thread. http://johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=100 The same principals apply and I believe the 20/20bas also has a -6dB low shelf filter.

Good Luck!
Thomas

The events have -3db shelf. Would that change things much in your opinion or should I just turn it all the way.

Thanks again

They'll probably still be bass heavy, but it's worth a try. I mean, who knows exactly how they voiced that speaker? You can experiment by just making a rudimentary front panel of the soffit out of a sheet of plywood. Roughly position and mount the panel and speaker like you would a soffit and see how it works. The front baffle is the only part of a soffit that affects how the speaker radiates anyway. The rest is just framework and support. If the experimental setup works well then construct the rest of the soffit. If it doesn't, then you haven't wasted too much time or cost.
