Wiring in rough stage? Correct forum

Post by arathercoolguy »

I'm beginning to put some walls up (studs only) and I want to start running some wire before I lay the sheetrock. Does anyone have any tips on how many wires I should run and for which room. For example, I have an iso booth, in that I would want a headphone jack, an xlr jack (or two) and ??

What else might I need in the other rooms. I have a live room and an ISO booth. I'm not going to hook anything up at this point. I'm going to mark all the ends and then cover them with plastic bags until I use them.

Any thoughts?

Here is a suggestion, sit down and plot out your desires then order snakes to fill the need. Example, I ran a 16pr and then a 12 pr snake into my control room so I could have 20 Mic jacks and 8 Headphone Jacks.

Everyone's situation is different so plot it out and adda a few more for safety. If you think 1 head phone plan for 2, if you think 2 mic jacks plan for 4.

The materials to in-expensive to under plan for your needs.

So plan and get a bigger snake than what you plan for. I think my 16 pr snake at 30', which was way to much, was $15.00 and my 12 pr at 30 feet was $10.00 so the materials as you can see are very cheap.

Purchase from any commercial bulk cable supplier. Most major cities have them.

Realize this is the snake cable, not the box or the ends.

My Panel ran 97.00 for 20 mic jacks and 8 headphone jacks. the total was about 200 for all materials.

And about 2 hours solder time.
