Have just bought over an old studio and I am in the midst of renovation. Will send pictures when done.

One problem I have is when I fire up a guitar amp, there is a very noticebale buzz, this is not 50Hz but much higher, come to think of it I must have another listen to try and pick the frequency. I get the same buzz when the amp is plugged into any of the 3 phase circuits. The problem is not with the amp, guitar or cable as I have tried at least 3 of each. They all work quietly in other premises.

Touch the strings of the guitar and the buzz reduces significantly, probably 10dB or more, let go of the strings, buzz is back.

Could my install be suffering from a really poor earth?

Got no repsonse to this one, but worked it out anyway.

It was the frickin' lightin you idot, switch off the lights and all noises go, there were numerous fluoro lights and incandescent light with dimmers.

I guess the easiest thing to do would be dump all fluoro's and go with incandescent lights, but remove all dimmers.

Yeah, fluorescents are evil in a studio.

It's unfortunate that sometimes threads go unanswered by others, but it's especially good when someone gets (or figures out) a solution to his challenge and then follows up to share the answer like this.

Yes Sharward, it is. I've made a couple posts here recently that explains my absence over the last month. And I feel I hadn't been able to apologize enough.

I'm trying to get caught up though to offer more time as I have previously had in the past. It's just been hectic for me on the work front as well as some medical issue's I've been having, so time hasn't really been on my side the past month or two.
