Really bad ground hum and mouse movement noise

Post by d4 »

SPEC:
DAW: Logic 5.5 (PC) (Windows XP)
Keyboard: Roland XP-50
MIXER: Yamaha 03D Digital Mixer
Speakers/Monitors: Wharfedale 8.2a Powered Monitors
SoundCard(s): DS2416 + SW1000XG + AX44
PC: 1.8 GHz AMD Athlon (1GB RAM DDR)

I've narrowed it down to my PC, but i cant figure out whats wrong!!

the motherboard is earthed properly to the chassis via the brass bolts but i cannot seem to get rid of the hum. any ideas?

Oh n the ax44 outputs make some really horrible ground loop when plugged into the mixer, u can hear the noise of mouse movements when you turn the gains up.

pls help!!

This is common in cheap arse power supplies in your PC and/or PSU on it's way out. I suggest you buy a better spec one like Antec True Power, Super Flower, Cooler Master, OCZ, Silverstone.
