I just got to soffit mounting my Event 20/20s and hey!! The bass is the same but there seems to be a third speaker in the middle. Hopefully I can run a test tomorrow to see how flat things are. If they keep sounding ok with some different music I will send some pics etc. Thanks to all of you here who have given me the great tips.

Pics of 20/20 mounted in a soffit

Sorry that took so long.I tried three times to post that picture and for whatever reason she wouldn't go.
The construction is pretty much from the plans I swiped from this website. Thanks fellas.
The materials used are 3/4 particle board with upper and lower compartment( you can see the unfinished trap at the bottom. then a 1/4" veneer. I put inlays around the speakers to tighten up the gaps which were maybe 1/32' each side of the speaker. Sides of the room are panel absorbers with the dreaded auralex on top to kill reflections.( say what you will it works fine ) Bass traps in the rear of the room.
Room dimensions are 17'6" x 12'. The ceiling is 8'6" at both ends and cascades up to roughly the center at 11" . Everything sounds fine. I used a pink noise generator and tuned the room a little bit with an eq post out of the mixer, but it didn't need a whole lot. One thing I would suggest is to get a subwoofer for these monitors. The mixes I have done so far are great. The best I have ever done.

The panels are 1/4" Poplar. I got it from a local supplier who gave it to me cheap. I was originally going to use cherry. It makes great panel absorbers as well. One of theses days I'm going to build some nice covers for the traps.

Are they the event 20/20bas, the 20/20p or the completely passive ones? If the amped ones - any issues with heat?

They are the 20/20 powered version.
They are working pretty well mounted in those soffits but I still have a few issues with them mainly in the lower frequencies. They don't always translate like I want. In talking to other people who have used them I understand that I'm not alone on that issue. I tried some various different bass traps and diffusers around the room to try and correct things but it really doesn't change much. I am assuming at this point that it is the monitors. I went and listened to several pairs of near fields yesterday and compared them to the events and for the money the events are good just muddy at the bottom. They weren't nearly as tight as the new Mackie with the dual 6" cones ( can't remember the model # ). Next week I'm trying out some of the Adams stuff. Anywho, hope that's not too nuch of a ramble for you.

Sorry I went way out on a tangent there.
No problems with heat and they are the bas version.

Actually these speakers have always been that way. While I don't doubt what you are saying about the 6db boost, I didn't really notice a difference after they were mounted. I put in a sub for a while which cut them off at about 120hz that seemed to help some and I have pulled them out of the soffits a few times to compare. They just seem to be sort of muddy and I think that because they are using an 8" speaker, they have a difficult time reproducing mids and lower frequencies correctly. I don't recall what the crossover point is. I also prefer to mix with the volume turned down. In comparison I listened to the several other monitors yesterday in a side by side and I was hearing the same thing with the events there.Some of the others were worse!! That was in a different room alltogether. The Mackie 626 had better definition and seemed to extend lower without turning to mush. They were a little harsher though.The dynaudios sounded more like a hi fi speaker to me. I really want to here the Adams. I'm not condemning the events by any means they will probably be in this studio for a long time to come.

Fortunately for me I locked all my credit cards up to help cure me of this terrible gear addiction that I have developed.
