Am i a mad if i use Rigid Polyurethane Foam as bass traps enclosure material instead of MDF?
Ah! Don't beat me! :)

Not sure what that would do - it would probably flex more than the MDF, but when absorbing bass that's not always a BAD thing.

If you're that crazy, why not build one and let us know how well it works?

Hi knightfly, i was too curious so tonight i've built a sandwich like this:
1 - 1x2 feet, 1" thick rigid poly (the back).
2 - 1x2 feet, 1" thick rigid poly center cut in order to obtain a 1,2" frame.
3 - 1x2 feet, 2" thick rigid fiberglass panel (0.85 sabins average).
4 - 1x2 feet, 1" thick rigid poly center cut in order to obtain a 1,2" frame.
5 - 1x2 feet, 4mm thick plywood panel.
I've built 2 units and i'm testing it right now using a Cubase project i've done months ago containing several test tones (sine sweeps, pink noise etc.).
I let you know...
Bye!

A better view
