speakers lost low end after stand mounting

Hello everyone!, my name is Spanky - I'm from N. Richland Hills, Tx ( suburb of Fort Worth ) and this is my 1st post. I have been reading and learning here for about 9 months and, I have learned alot. I already have a studio in my house ( a bed room is the control room with the closet the vocal booth and an ajoining living room is the live room ). In the future I will be redoing the control and vocal booth ( I will post dimentions later ) but, right now my question is about speakers. I have a set of mackie HR824's that I use for nearfields. I also have a set of jenson cs315's ( I'm sure not intended to be used for this purpose ) hooked up to a stereo in the control room that I had planned to use as ( at least for now ) as midfield monitors. The problem is that when I put them on stands to get them up like other monitors, they lost the low end. What happened and why and, can it be corrected easily. I hope I have included enough info to answer this question. Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Spanky
