Hey all long time no see! I am still new here but visit and read every so often as I get some damn time. lol. My question is in this link this Corner Studio is about what I want to do in my garage. I have a 27x 21 foot garage being built on my new house which is being built .... anyway lol I am making a wall about 5 or 6 foot off the back entrance to make a hall which can lead to the house or studio. My question is I need to tell the builders where to put the outlets and air-conditioning. I’m figuring Ill have 21 x22 about for the studio inside dimensions. I am looking for several things if anyone could help me out. On that drawing Corner Studio what are the sizes of each room ? Has it been drawn with Measuerments???? If I build the studio say 5 foot off the wall for room for the hallway where should I put the air condition ducts and the 4 power outlets ? Do you get what I’m alluding to ? Also is there anyway not to shoot nails into my garage floor and ceiling to hold the studs in place ?
Thanks all
John G

Steve will be along any minute
I tried to reply earlier had a nicely typed up response and oops, I couldn't log on to the wbesite (guess the server took a dump.)
So here we go again to the best of what I remember.
1.
As far as not nailing holes in the floor or ceiling, build a floated floor. This will not be physically connected to the Garage floor, but resting on Neoprene. Then you can build the wall frame much like home builders do. Propped up with studs while you finish the remaining walls.
Then you can affix the ceiling to the walls you have just built.
Realize the walls will be attached to the floor, you can however get a degree of isolation from the walls to the floor, by placing the sill plates on neoprene and being conservative on the number of Screws used to mount the sill plate to the floor (making sure you are screwing into floor joists for sturdiness.
I would create a separation of the rooms by not building continuos walls, but by sectioning off the space as you build the various walls. (Hope that makes sense.)
You should ideally run A/C Ducts above the ceiling if possible. I'd use long runs of 8" flex duct and sorta lay the flex duct down in squiggles (if I created a nice visual) That will help with reducing blower noise and sound transmission.
Then build as you have learned in here. You can scale the corner room design to fit your application. I think smart draw allows for that... John? Anybody???

As Bryan said - you will be running your aircon ducts through the ceiling - what sort of ceiling will the garage have?? open trusses I assume.
If you build a room within a room construction you will not need to touch the outer building in any way. But you must have enough ceiling height to be able to fit it in and still have adequate ceiling height in the final rooms.
As to where to put your power - well you have to have a plan don't you.
cheers

Yes.. Thank you all. I am planning but arggg. I guess If I had the measurements of that design I could plan. I think the way I should of worded my placement question is I’m trying to figure out from experienced builders what I’m going to need for power and air conditioning in the room. And if I can get some measurements on that studio. The ceilings are 8 foot.
Thanks all
John

Ok, clear your head a bit.
You said your dimensions are 21x22 correct?
What I suggested is that you take that "TO SCALE" plan and resize it to fit your available space size. If you search this site you can come up with similar sizings to fit what you are attempting to do. No one is here to GIVE you what you need, but rather to assist you in your endeavors to design/build a studio.
Have you taken the time to read all the information available here, view some of the already constructed studios that have plans with dimensions and then attempt ON YOUR OWN to design/layout a plan to fit in your space?
If Not that is your 1st step.
Then submit that proposal to this site in the form of a .gif or .jpg and receive criticism or comments.
The other way is to Pay john for his consulting and he will be more than happy to design/layout a plan for you.

Fitting that .gif is really simple, get a graphic program or other such program (Smart Draw is the favorite here) create a file with those dimensions and resize that grapjhic to fit (proportionately of course) and see what you come up with.
A Lot of other people have developed 20x20 plans in the forums. read them all. It's a lot of work, but it's what is expected of you here.
If I seem harsh don't take it as such. I had to do the same myself. I researched all the forums, looked at various plans and found one that fit my needs. Then I called on the assistance of the experts here. We all must travel the same road. What is provided here is insight and a easier travel by those who have paved the way.

Np dude... I’m not afraid to do some work. I just was trying to be smart utilize this forum and quickly get some dimensions before they started building. I NEED to get an idea before they place the air conditioning and AC. So I was trying to get info as fast as possible. I can improvise with the dimensions but I’m real concerned with the control room. John what would you charge to give me angles planes and dimensions for the studio?
Thanks John.
Thanks John.
