Hi guys, i was hoping for some comments on my Live room layout.
The room is 635x530cm of size, the right wall with the storage booths is already built and provide good posibilities for isolation to the control room so i consider that wall permanent so the layout must work around it.
Ceiling will be covered with fibreglass, floor is currently carpet on cement.
So, is there anything i can improve upon, like wall angles, the balance of acoustic treatment in the room.
thanks
mike

Looks Great Mike.
Not sure of the Dim's, but it seems to me the resonators next to the storage bins should angle out a couple more degrees. Maybe lose the one to the north of your drawing and replace with fibreglass.
Lose the carpet, maybe paint the cement floor or put in vinyl tile.
I assume the drum riser is wood framed filled with fibre or rockwool to deaden resonances?
Fiber cover that north Storage bin as well.
What type of doors over those storage bins? The Bins can play the role of bass traps as well. Possibly line the walls with Fibre to trap any sound rolling into them as bass hangers would destroy the whole point of the storage bins.
Just my 1/2 a penny

thanks for the suggestions..
maybe something like this: (see below)
all slot resonator angles are 12degrees.
, + the large airspace between the storage booth wall and the control room wall provide good sound isolation posibilities. The wall isnt finished on the inside yet.
more comments are appreciated
thanks

yes!, i was planning to float the riser aswell.I assume the drum riser is wood framed filled with fibre or rockwool to deaden resonances?
The doors are a pretty sucky construction at the moment, i built them when i didnt know much about acoustics, so i will build new ones for better STC-specs. I really need the space for storage so no bass traps in thereWhat type of doors over those storage bins? The Bins can play the role of bass traps as well. Your drawing looks nice. Only thing is that when I look at other designs, they tend to put the fiberglass <deadening> more behind the drumset and the slots along the other walls. So to compare that to yours I would say swap the the slots behind the set out with the dead wall along the back. I'm just commenting the as the devils advocate, Brian is much more experienced than I am.
Good Luck!!

Ron, I had considered that option as well due to the extreme liveness that can be behind a drummer. Keep in mind thoug, his ceiling, which is not so high, is to be completely covered in fibreglass so you do need some liveliness from somewhere.
I cut drums in a small slot resonator covered (completely) angled vocal/drum booth back in 1998 and loved the liveness of the sound I got.
Take a look at this pic of what John did at Guruland

It basically is up to whatever sound you are after. In some R&B circles they prefer a really dead/dry drum sound. I Prefer a liver kit as I am a Live Sound Engineer as well. I also do a lot of live recordings and really enjoy that lively sound around my drum kits.
