Hello all,
My name is Brandon Daggerhart, and I live in Greensboro, NC. I'm really just getting into home recording. I just had a few questions about some things I noticed, looking around the site, and looking at all the studio designs on the main page.

Why is it best that rooms are angled and assymtrical, instead of rectangular?

What are cord ducts?

What is a passive AC/Heater unit, and how does it work?

When John Sayers says he designs studios, does that mean he gets paid to do it, or it's just a hobby, or both? And what are the rates?

Does anyone on here live around G-boro, NC?

Well, that's it for now; I'll be lurking on the site often to see what other people are doing, and how I can improve my production and such.

Cheers!
-Brandon

Hi Brandon - yes newbies are welcome here :):)
Why is it best that rooms are angled and assymtrical, instead of rectangular?
It's all explained at the SAE site http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html
What are cord ducts?
I assume you mean cable ducts where the cables run either in the wall or under the floor.
What is a passive AC/Heater unit, and how does it work?
Not sure what you mean.
When John Sayers says he designs studios, does that mean he gets paid to do it, or it's just a hobby, or both? And what are the rates?
Yup - I get paid for it - it used to be a hobby :):) Prices on application.

cheers
