I have run into some delays in my project studio. #1 Being I started school again and time is limited.

My neighbor just gave me a bunch of 1/2 and 3/4 mdf. Would this work for the slats on my resonators?

I had also thought about puting it up as an outside layer of my soffit units. good/bad idea?

MDF is an excellent material for these purposes. It's dense, easy to cut, easy to finish, and dimensionally stable. Just don't use it for weight bearing applications. It tends to sag over time.

My only complaint with MDF is that it contains formaldehyde, a known carcinogen. So, cut it in a well ventilated area and use a good dust mask. It also outgases small amounts of formaldehyde over time, but this is unfortunately true for many engineered building materials. I use formaldehyde-free MDF in my loudspeakers.

So what you are saying is I will be well preserved over time.

In all honesty I hope to not be in my small space for too many years. So this sounds like it will work for me.

Yeah, the bad news is you'll die of cancer - the good news is, you'll be a well-preserved example of why not to use MDF... Steve
