Fire Wire Cable Lengh

Hello All,

Has anyone tried to extend the firewire cable length from an audio card past a cable length of 14.5'? I've got a tascam dm3200 digital console and the cable provided is only about 5 ft. I've done some research and have read the maximum length for a firewire cable without repeater is 14.5 ft. Is anyone going past this, if so what repeater are you using if you've had success.

I'm trying to get my G5 into the machine room which is about 18-20 ft. from the dm3200. I know I'm not the first person to attempt this.

Also, I've got an apple cinema display and I'm running into the same issue with DVI.

Any advice???

thank you,

andrew

I'd give the firewire a try - should be ok with decent quality cable.

DVI shouldn't be a problem either. I'm using a 10m cable (Lindy) works fine.
