Select Sound Black Acoustic Board

There is some seriously great information on this board! That wall construction pdf is great.

Just wondering if anyone has used this stuff. I have used the older stuff--703?--and I have a client who needs to tame a too live recording space. I'm a recording engineer/mixer and I sometimes get called in to consult on client's room construction.

I called Owens Corning and was surprised to find out that they won't sell to anyone other than licensed contractors. I have some contractor friends, so I suppose I can get some, but geez...

I couldn't even get a price out of them!

I'm in LA, so someone must have it in stock.

Thanks for the help

Steve

Looks almost identical to unfaced 703 in performance, but probably better aesthetically - looks like we might have a new "holy grail" to search for... Steve

Hi
I bought several bundles of the 1" SelectSound from CWCI Insulation in City of Industry, 626-369-4424. Ask for Brian, it was 78ยข/ sq ft for the 1", and $1.14/ sq ft (or so) for the 2". The black facing is a bit fragile, but installation is a lot quicker than making fabric-covered frames, and since my place is an old movie theater is was perfect for the projection wall.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Joe, thanks for the source. I see you posted it in the materials section too, we appreciate it almost as much as the guy from that area who's gonna be looking for it next... Steve
