Designing my studio around JBL 4430 and JBL 18" subs

I am designing and building our studio, and want to soffit mount my mains.
They will be 2 x JBL 4430 Monitors, and 2 x 18" JBL Subs.

The control room will be about 20'x17.5'.

I have read much of the info on this site, which is an amazing reference site, thankyou, but I have been told by a couple recording engineers that I want to make sure the room and soffits are designed around the speakers, or it may actually make them sound worse and not better.

Has anyone installed these types of speakers? I have used them in a few studios where they've worked well, but I dont know who designed the soffits..
