Looks good. So how exactly did you wire the 3 way system? Is there a variac on each end?

I see you got the face plate right on one of them. Since the shaft is round, you can just loosen the nut, rotate the plate around, and adjust your knob accordingly.

I recently had someone ask me about Variacs and I came back to this post to find I never responded!
Whoops...
We did this
power in -> variac -> 3way -> 3way -> switch leg.
