I have checked a bunch of posts, and I am more lost than ever.

I am soooo tired of all the million decisions you have to make building a studio but it isn't over yet!
I simply can't make up my mind on what good quality (does not have to be "the ULTIMATE") mic cabling to use in the walls for my iso booths. I need about 15 foot of 8 channel ( or the equivelent in 4 channel or even single channel) and about 60 feet of 4 channel ( or the equivelent in otherconfigs).

I am shot! working 50 hrs a week and then spending 5 months of weekends and evenings has taken its toll and I need help on the cheapest route to get quality wire (and connectors). I work for an Aerospace sheetmetal shop so getting the panels made is not any problem. With wire prices shooting through the roof, the local sources (Mouser Electronics) is doubling their prices. I feel in a bit of a panic to buy stuff right this minute.

Oh yeah! I'd like to keep it under $200 - or so bucks if possible.

One thought on "good enough" quality. I spent the last 5 years using "good enough" because of budgetary constraints, and have just upgraded to Mogami cables. The difference IS quite noticable. Imaging, smear, transient response, distortion issues have improved dramatically. After investing a tidy sum into the room treatments, equipment, time and energy, in my case, the extra cost is worth it. Your mileage may vary.

It's also a lot easier to install a quality cable now, than it will be later.

P.S. Don't forget to take some time out to rest from time to time. You'll be a lot more productive overall, both at work and at your studio.

Thanks for the link and the advice.
I am exausted, and really need to step back fora bit because I don't want to make bad decisions at this point that will cause all the money and effort I have spent up to now to be in vain.

I know a bit about Drums , music , building and recording... but electronics is my weakest point.
I see bulk cabling at places like Zzounds for $95 for 500 feet( Belden but no model #) I wonder if this would be substandard. I dont mind running seperate cabling if it woul be less expensive. Heck I could even buy a 1000ft and keep some for custom cables.

Need the model number. Belden cable quality ranges up to the same level as Mogami and Canare. They also make lower quality cables. Differretn cables for different budgets. One thing though, the othere brands tend to get more maney in some markets for their name.

They used to carry Canare and Mogami. Another cheap solution if budget is of concern would be Gepco wire.
