I am just now getting into SketchUp, and thanks, John, for the HouseBuilder tip - that should add to the fun!

This is a fun program, and I am amazed how straight forward it is.

The Pro version allows you to export the animation as a video file.

I'm trying to upload a .skp as an attachment but the size is 41.4mb, and the compressed size is 19.7mb.
Why is it so big?

Thanks.

you have to purge all the unused objects...
goto window/Model info/Statistics and press the obvious button :)

Where can I find all the pretty little pictures like drumsets, keyboards, desks, etc so that I can add them into my sketchup sketches?

Thanks!

is it true that you dont have layout features unless you pay for pro?

I'm not sure Jonas - I don't use Layout.

As I understand it the main addition in Pro is the ability to export animations as video files
and you are entitled to use the program for commerical purposes.

I've tried twice now to download/install the free version of SketchUp 7.

Both times I got the "download successful" prompt, and the install wizard initially goes through the steps of installation, but every time I try to open the program I get the wizard asking me if I want to install, then takes me to a "repair or remove" prompt. I have installed/uninstalled, removed/redownloaded, and get the exact same results.

Am I holding my face wrong? I'm not very PC savvy, but my guts are saying there's a problem here.

Any help? Is there an additional download necessary?

Stetto - there's a good sketchup forum here:

http://forums.sketchucation.com/

ask your question there - it's independent from Google's forum.

Really the best option, IMO. I think it is more fun that way!
