Help! I screwed up, 24" centers on ceiling

Someone tell me my ceiling will not fall down.
Not knowing any better and listening to a framer/dywall guy, I hung my drywall ceiling on RC alternating directions on 24 inch centers. The RC is attached to a frame of "hat" channel which is on 16" centers, The make up of the ceiling is a layer of 5/8" then a layer of asphalt roofing ,then a layer of 1/2" high density rock. The layers are all screwed to the RC.
I am fearful of the lid coming down over time. Any advice out there?
