Hallo,
I want to build a Ethan winner style Basstrap, but mine is closed on both sides airtight with plywood.

Does the Basstrap work when I hang it maybe 2 inch away from the ceiling ? Or must one side close to the ceiling , without a space

So you are buliding a membrane bass trap?

If so, from what I can tell, they are placed right up against the wall.

Wood panel traps work best when mounted directly on the wall or ceiling. Only fiberglass-based absorbers work better when spaced away.
