Hello all. I'm very happy to be here with a whole new project. I'm building a studio/rehearsal room. I'll start with the Live Room treatment and I need some of your advise.

The first thing I will do is isolate the room because I'm near a very noisy avenue. The room has to be silent with no noise entering and no noise getting out.

In order to choose the best product for insulation I searched in my city and found this two products. I heed you to help me choose the best suited for my purpose.

Wich one is better for any kind of insulation? (floors, ceilings and walls?)

Could you give us links to the webistes of the companies? That way we can look over the information for better ideas of the both products. It will also let Bob add the companies' websites to his database. :D

Of course. But I have to say that those websites are in spanish language because they are from Colombia, wich is my country.

This is the first link for the fiberglass:

This is the second link for the rockwool product:

Thanks and the links helped alot. The language may be spanish, but what I was looking for are relatively technical, so the clues, like a number following R, and kg/m^3 helped get the info.

Good news! For sound insulation inside the walls, either product will work about the same. For other readers, the rockwool is 60 kg/m^3 denisty, and the fiberglass is R11.

Thanks for the links! As you prbably know, asking questions is cheap, rebuilding a wall is not. Ask as many questions until you are certain that what you will do will do what you want, or you recognize what it will do.

Good luck!

Thanks a LOT.

I think I'm goig to use the fiberglass product because the price per square meter is better for my budget. Do you think that the Fiberglass "Frescasa" - I think the name of that product in spanish would mean "Fresh Home" because fiberglass is suited for termic conditioning too-, I will use in the wall can work as insulation in the floating floor. I'm planning to do a room in a room for best soundproofing. The space will be used as rehearsal room for heavy metal bands  , so the best isolation is requiered.

Thanks and I'll keep asking questions.

In terms of general sound isolation the fiberglass product is fine for both walls and floor. If you absolutely want the best possible from the insulation for sound isoaltion, then you look for fiberglass in the 40 kg/m^3 range or rockwool in the 40 kg/m^3.

Good luck!

Hey Andre. Thanks for your help.

I started a new topic here: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5521

It's about wall construction for isolation. I have a few doubts about the best method and added some drawings. If you can give me some hints I'll appreciate them a lot.

Thanks again.
