Making the transition from computer based to external equipt

I've pretty much have based all of my home recording to a pc with a decent sound card and mediocre mics. I have been given some older equipment by a friend and would love to put it to use, I hope you folks can tolerate my lack of knowledge in regards to hardware versus software. If you have any questions regarding software then i'll try my best to be of assistance. Now I know my items are prehistoric but we do what we can with what we have. So here goes.
1st. Akai midi sampler model #s612
2nd akai sampler disk drive
3rd Yamaha digital wave filter tx16w
So what i'm trying to do is basically use this stuff in conjuction with a mixing board, and a reciever that's about as far as I can get in terms of things I need. I want a basic recording set up. I plan on recording directly onto my pc harddrive through midi input. I am going to get a midi keyboard, an mpc,and an amplified mic from another friend. I am not sure what else I would need. I'm trying to stay as inexpensive as possible. I dont have many dollars to launch around so second hand is going to be the route i'm going. I'd like to thank you all for your help ahead of time.
