Soffit Height

Post by rsb »

:? I have been searching around and I cannot find an optimal height of a soffit mounted speaker.

I am building a soffit unit and was curious what this should be.

In other words do I want to sit in the chair I will be using and measure the height from the floor to my ears then put the (bottom / middle / etc? ) of the speaker at that height in the soffit?????

Thanks for any help... Still learning :D

That's pretty much it. My Optimal heigt was for the mid point of the project of the monitor to be 50" off the floor minus the size of the monitor up to that point. For me that was 44" keep in mind that I side mounted my monitors, not standing upright, so it might be different for you.

Ear level is the way to go. You can put them higher, but then you'll have to angle them down, creating extra cost, not to mention more reflections off the floor!
