What are you using for your sidewall absorber slats?

How to use REW, What is a Bass Trap, a diffuser, the speed of sound, etc.

What are you using for your sidewall absorber slats?

Post by WiseMindsRecordingStudios »

I am buidling sidewall absorbers simular to the ones in Blue Bear Studios and I was wondering what was used for the slats themselves?

I know and understand the dimensions, I was wondering what kind of board. I have heard mention of knotty pine? Lacquered? Poly'd? 1 x? Thanks for any help.

Any solid board will do. The material itself is not critical.

My control room has a doorway in the back... do the rear wall absorbers have to be centered?

Sarath, I believe that in a corner where there is a doorway, such as in my studio that you would hang one on the perpendicular wall 90 degrees to the door and one on the door itself, effectively trapping the corner. At least thats what I got from the videos on Ethan Winer's site.
