I have heard of issues with some equipment functionality/compatibility when using balanced power. Apparently there are reasons not to go this route, and I wanted to make sure that people checked their equipment list carefully before commiting an entire studio's power to a balanced structure.

Mike, this may not apply to you anyway; so far, the NEC limits use of balanced power to "professional" studios, with "qualified individuals", etc - although it looks as though at least one company (Equi=Tech) may have a way around those limitations - I've yet to find time to give them the "third degree" on this. When I do, I'll post it for all. I'm thinking it may have to do with "plug in" units as opposed to "hard-wired" premise systems

Danickstr, do you have specific manufacturer/model examples on incompatibility, or just a "general buzz" so to speak?
