Looking for ideas

I am looking for ideas as to what to do with this space. As you can see it is another basement, finished by the previous owner of the house. Due to budget restraints I don’t think I can move the ductwork. I was initially thinking of just a rectangle shape control room but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott - it looks like you could have a control room in the left section facing south (down the page) and have a booth on the right with the doors under the ducts??

Hello John,

Thanks, I have not thought of orienting the Control Room that way.

Since finding this site I have been interested in soffit mounting the speakers. Am I right in assuming the sidewalls need to be angled at least 12 degrees for a soffit design? Playing with the design in smart draw I am having trouble getting something workable. Plan B would be to just treat the room with the DIY wall units outlined on your web page, especially the angled side mount absorber. So much to learn so little time. Again thanks for all your help!

John,

That layout looks good. Do you think the duct will throw off the symmetry?

Thanks,
Scott

Yes - but not to a degree as to make it unworkable. If you deaden the whole ceiling it won't make much difference at all.
