First I want to thank everyone for their help with my last problem with my control room. I have completed a redesign and it sounds fantastic. I will post some pictures of the redesign as soon as I have time.

Now I am tackling my small drum booth. I need help with placement of bass traps and absorbers. The ceiling height is 7' 4" sheetrocked. Right now the floor is carpeted but I am thinking of changing it to wood. The floor is concrete. I have been using this room for 9 years with just 2" of 703 on the right wall and ceiling. Here are my questions

1. Would regular 703 bass traps be ok, or should I go with corner slat absorbers?

2. How much live wall space should I have in a room this size?

3. The sliders and window cannot be changed so I have to work around that.

Maybe build this on your 6'2" wall, 12" deep on the right side and 0" on the left (or however you can get average depth of 6") - doing it that way would also remove a parallel pair of walls, and absorb well at typical kick drum shell resonance (300 hZ)

I'd remove the carpet, but try to absorb that bottom right corner if there's room; it will focus sound back into the main space and can cause problems.

If the room sound was about as live as you wanted with the amount of 703 you've been using, then no reason to change - maybe just relocate so as many corners are bridged as possible, and a "cloud" over the kit so overheads don't get ceiling reflections... Steve

Thanks so much for the reply. I will do as you say. The bottom right corner is only 1' long, so I will do a shallow corner with 703 there.
