I have a 12’x10’x8’(height) control room and had few questions before starting on the acoustic construction.
It is a small CR and space is very precious.
Speakers will be free standing (no soffit).
Do I put “Slat” or “Broadband” Corner Absorbers for this size room?
Also what would be the best treatment for the sides, back and the front walls?
Is it a good idea to angle the ceiling?
Have done a lot of reading here and there but still not clear particularly for the size of room that I have.

“Heavy Insulation” as in “Bass Traps” (703 or Rockwool covered with cloth) for the whole back wall?
How thick you recommend it be?
Guess no need for diffusers.
What should I do with the 8’ ceiling; should I hang a false ceiling?
If so should it be hung straight or angled?

I don't know what the 'right' answer is, but if it were me (and I have the exact same situation in my room - 8' ceiling) I would want to lose as little height as possible - an 8' ceiling is already short enough.

You’re right 8’ ceiling is not much but wouldn’t it be a problem if I don’t treat the ceiling somehow?
How about ceiling clouds?

At least 12" across the rear, sloping up to the edge of that door as shown in John's drawing - doing some "hangers" in that trap wouldn't hurt either.

Clouds - at least 2" rigid or rockwool, spaced another 2-4" off the ceiling, at least 4' x 6', NOT backed (otherwise the spacing behind does nada) - center this halfway between you and speakers... Steve

Am I correct by assuming that back of the 703 not covered or boxed in?

Here is a side wiew of what I plan on doing for the CR.
Am I on the right track?
What do you guys think about the angled front part with hangers in and the back wall insulation?

"Am I correct by assuming that back of the 703 not covered or boxed in?" - Right - you need to leave the back open so the depth of air space BEHIND the absorbent effectively makes the absorbent "thicker" - IOW, it will absorb to lower frequencies and give more even response.

For the angled piece over the front of your mix desk, you might actually find that putting a paper or foil backing on the FRONT side of that particular location may IMPROVE your bass trapping a few dB; at that angle, any higher frequencies that are reflected would just get absorbed by the rear trap, so no problem.

Even though all rooms are made different (concrete, drywall, wood, steel studs or wood studs, etc) the basic layout should improve any room... Steve
