I have offers from 2 places that i can buy to build my studio.

The common facts are:
-both are about 200 m2
-both are in a city
-both costs the same money (Around 10.000$)

The differences are
The first place
-it is on the first floor of a 5 floors building
-it has great view
-it is only 2.3 m high
The second place
-it is a single builging almost isolated
-it has no view
-it is 4 m high

Witch one would u choose

Thanks

That would at least partially depend on your intentions for the studio - if it will be a private or "project" studio and therefore you don't care about customer aesthetics, the second place sounds like it might be easier to retrofit. The second place with its 4m ceilings is a serious acoustic advantage.

If you intend for the studio to be open to the public, then location should be a strong influence - the view, if you can take advantage of it and still isolate well, would also make it more desirable.

However, the low ceilings will make it REALLY difficult to get anything close to neutral-sounding mixes, especially if you will be TRACKING in that space; every track recorded in a "less-than-optimum" space adds a little bit more "wrongness" to the acoustic signature, so by the time you mix 12-24 tracks of this "wrongness", it REALLY sounds wrong.

Those are some of the points I would use to make the choice; unless the second space has some GLARING faults, I think I'd go for it... Steve
