After reveiwing my original plans, space and budget plus going over ideas here in this forum regarding my previous designs could you guys please comment on this new wall plan.

I am working with a really small existing room and have come to the conclusion just do not have the space or money to build a new wall, float a floor, or build a new ceiling. I plan to beef up the original finished walls and ceiling by screwing two new layers of wallboard to the existing finished layer, sealing all joins and adding acoustic treatment to the inside of the room

This is a drum room, the neighbours are about 20feet away.

I would be interested to know:

(1) Possible STC especially low frequency

(2) Honest comments of isolation, especially of drums.

Thanks again

The STC is around 33. The LF TL is around 15 dB. It is useles for drum isloation. Fill the cavity (3-6 dB increase) with RW3 etc. Live with the results with that is your budget. At least you know the results.

John, Andre is right on this - there is NO SHORTCUT for soundproofing that I'm aware of. you need either great distances, or large masses, in order to stop low frequency sound - usually BOTH. Your suggestions have so far all been "too little too late" to be effective in stopping drums. I'd like to find a "magic bullet" for you, because it would mean that I could capitalize on it and become rich; unfortunately, if it exists I'm not smart enough to discover it - I'm sorry, but "facts is facts", and Andre called it pretty much like it is...
