Hi John and all, I have recently created a room in the basement of a small church I have recently purchased in the Boston Ma. area. The rooms interior dimensions are 21"2" long x 18'3" wide. The ceiling height is mostly 8'6" except under an air duct that traverses the space 22" from the north wall, that height is 7' 6.25". The room is cut out of a 40x 30 area and is built out of steel studs insulation 1/2" celotex and 5/8 " sheet rock. The north wall has two glass brick windows and a granite rock foundation. I really would like to have a corner contol room design and have tried to apply many of the wonderful design plans that are on this website but inevitably run into a support post that is 11'6" from the west wall and 7'8.5" from the south wall. I am optimistic that you, with your wisdom ,will help me build around this pesky post. Ultimately the control room will be able to record music that is being played in the sanctuary space on the second floor.(40 x30 with 20' ceilings) I am a jazz musician looking to record mostly acoustic instruments.I thank you in advance for any suggestions and hope you can read my scanned drawing.I have tried to use smart draw but have not been successful with it.(luddite) all the best regards, Greg.

This would give you the biggest control room without removing the pole.

Hello John, Thank you so much for your insight to my support post problem.Your design offers me a couple of small iso rooms I believe? It looks great, a couple of doors into those other iso areas and it will be wonderful. Maybe a slider into the larger room and french glass door into the smaller? I now have a plan of attack and can look forward to my winter teaching break to finish my studio! I have learned so much from your fantastic website and thank you, thank you, for all your hard work.I will keep you posted on the project. all the best to you, Greg.

Smaller control room option?

Hi John , Yes It is getting quite cold here in the Northeast.I took some measurements in the space this am. and wonder if I can make the control a little smaller to create a better sightline and size of the iso rooms.I measured your diagram at it seems to be 1/4" equalls 1' on the screen. (it prints out smaller) I have done alot of reading about control rooms and obviously would like to have a good sounding/accurate room. If you believe this large room is the only way to go...I will gladly build it...Any chance of getting measurements on your design? I have been transcribing it off the computer screen with a ruler and am really uncertain of my details being all that correct. I thank you in advance for your help...best regards, Greg.

Hi John, Thank you for the design specifics. My dimension figures were a little off.I look forward to setting up an outline of the dimensions and really getting a feel for what it will be like in there. Now to finish it! Again, much thanks for your help with this project.I will keep in touch, take care, Greg.
