are any of you guys familiar with a product called tectum? cause i found it at this place near me and they told me it's supposed to be really good for sound absorption i just want to find out if any of you guys have used it and if so how good is it? is it worth it?

http://www.tectum.com/index.htm

also is thermafiber the same as roxul?
what density of thermafiber do i need to get for best sound control for the inside of the walls. should i get 3 or 4 inch thick mineral wool for the inside of the walls?

Tectum's great advantage is that its surface can be painted and the sound absorption does not suffer significantly.

Yes, as is American Rockwool. Fibrex, etc. The are all rock/slag/based mineral wools.

If you are going for sound reduction then 2.5 pcf 3" thick. If sound isolation as dense as possible up to 8 pcf, filling hte airspace.

Insularly;
