soundproofing for a TV studio

hi this is my first post..thanks to the admin for running such a great forum..

we have just built a b studio at our television station..we have a problem with sound leaking in from a hall through a doorway..the doorway can be sealed up since its not a fire exit..its roughly 6' wide x 8' high..the surrounding walls are made of concrete..there is a few inches between the doors and the interior wall..

is there an effective yet inexpensive approach to soundproof such a doorway?

we do have a decent budget but we would like to keep the cost down of course..

It is dificult to know how to answer your query with such a paucity of information.

The first question that comes to my mind is who designed the new studio?

The best way to soundproof the doorway is to duplicate the construction of the wall.

There are other ways, but the results will be lacking compared to the concrete wall.

Here are some reports showing concrete wall TLs.

Here is one with 350 gypsum wall constructions.

So how isolation should you be looking for? Here is the BBC's standard for isolation.

There is all the information you need. How much of a compromise you are willing to make, only you know.

the studio is mostly DIY and industrial contractors for the walls and raised floor its an extra space behind our control room so we can have a different set going on..

we cant fill in the wall we have to treat the door..

what more information can i provide to make this more fruitful ?

Are you asking how to fill the doorway, which your first post suggests, or how to treat the door system?

If the door system, then look under the stickies for links to overly doors etc to see the commercial price and then read the post by Rod Gervais where he details doors that he has built for studios. I'll get the URL for Rod's thread in a bit. Do a search for his name and doors and it should get it, if someone else doesn't post it before I get it.

Regardless of which it is, or which way you go about it, it is not cheap.

Read the links in the thread also.

Some duplication, but several door related links here:
Finally, the most important one for getting usefull information here:

Note, all of the above are from the Annoucement stickies at the top of this forum.
