In a room ( a friends) exclusively for mixing, what about this idea?

He has a small room with carpet and alot of bass traping in there, but no surprise, it sounds quite dead.

What about if around the monitors to the desk he placed tiles or plywood on the floor. Of course, its obvious this will relfect some sound, BUT is it worth it? He cannot cover the whole floor, so would the small space below the monitors to the desk to the front wall make a difference with a reflective material put down?

I myself didnt think it would be worth the effort seeing not even half the floor area can be covered, but I could easily be wrong! Thanks guys.

That can help, but for permanent use he should remove the carpet. Trapping carpet between plywood, etc, is an excellent way to cause mold, fungus, etc, to grow.

As a test, however, that would be the easiest way to see if it's what you want to do on a more permanent basis... Steve

We are going to try it, but what do you think? Would it get the high end moving and shaking just enough? I only ask for your opinion (or others) not looking for a definitive yes or no necessarily...
