hard floor soft ceiling.

My tracking room has a dropped ceiling, above which is concrete. The tiles are at about 10 feet and the concrete is at about 12 feet.
My floors are hardwood with carpet glued to it (no, I didn't do this).
I have started peeling up the carpet small sections at a time and scraping the glue. This has proven to be a major pain in the ass.
My question is, would I benefit from taking all the carpet and scraping all the glue, or can I get away with doing an area in the middle under where the instruments and mics will be placed.
The question goes for the soft ceiling. Would my room sound any better if the whole ceiling had 4" of rigid fiberglass, or would the area above the instruments and mics be adequate?
thanks in advance,
john
