Hi. I bought a couple of versatiles from auralex and put them in the corners. but I'm not satisfied with the low freq absorbtion so I was wondering if it would help if I filled the space behind them with fiberglass?

you see that space behind them? If I put isolation or some absorbing material behind them. would that increase the bass absorbtion or doesnt it mather what i put there?

I'm not the expert here but theese corners seem to be light. Fiberglass or rockwool would help. It will however increase the weight and distort their shape unless you hang the insulation with some fabric before yu put back the foam.

I've seen theese links but in the described situation this is not the answer. Yes you could add 4" of 703 but space is an issue.

It is easy to say that you scrap everything else and do it all over but this is not what foolio is asking for

kendale: yep I've seen thoose links to but I want to use the auralex because I think it looks nicer and I don't need to use the screwdriver and buy materials, but thanks tough.

serge: 703 is that some speciell kind?
I try to get away with this cheap and I got some old isolation that was used in a wall in the house. But this is kinda soft. I dont know much about absorbtion, but I think for low frequency absorbtion the material should have higher density, right? so If I pack this really hard behind them, would this work or do i have to by the expensive fiberglass. I know to get perfect acoustics you gotta put more effort in it than this but I just want a it a little better then what it is right know.

703 is the medium density rigid fiberglass with different thickness: 1", 2", 4". The 4" is a good broadband absorber. They come in 2'X4' panels.

Rockwool is OK but I guess you need a good amount(thickness) to be efficient in bass absorption.

Versatiles are not going to perfom well in corners. Wrong tool for the wrong job. Get some of Ethan's Real Traps, send the Auralex back, or use the Auralex on the side walls or ceiling for reflection absorption.
